The online Poker industry is very competitive, as each room wants to get as many players coming through their doors as possible. More players equals more rake, and more rake equals more money, so it makes sense that rooms are desperate to get you to sign up and deposit with them. The following rooms currently have the most traffic, as they are the biggest rooms out there with more players sitting at their tables throughout the day than at any other rooms. More players means that there is more action, and so it will be less likely that you will be unable to find people to play against at your desired game and limit, no matter how obscure it might be. However, after a room reaches a certain level of traffic it doesn't make too much of a difference about how many more players they get, as there will be enough action at each of the tables regardless. But it's still nice to know which rooms are the biggest anyway...

PokerStars

A few years ago, you would have found Party Poker sitting at the top of the rankings when it came to player traffic. However, there was a big change around after the UIGEA came into play. Party Poker stopped accepting US players, whereas PokerStars still alowed them to play. This meant that a large number of players migrated directly to PokerStars, allowing the room to leapfrog over Party to the top of the rankings.

Party Poker

Party Poker has done incredibly well to attract so many players and sit at second in the traffic rankings despite the fact that they no longer accept US players. Party is currently the biggest online poker room that does not accept US players, which is due to the room's effective advertising campaigns in European countries. It is not expected that Party will take on US players any time soon, but if they did then they would quite comfortably be the biggest online poker room out there.

Full Tilt

The Full Tilt Poker room went through almost the exact same motions as the PokerStars room. When other rooms started to close their doors to US citizens, Full Tilt kept them open and mopped up the players that were leaving rooms like Part Poker, because they were no longer allowed to play there. Unfortunately for Full Tilt, PokerStars was more popular at the time and so they managed to grab hold of slightly more players than Full Tilt did. Nonetheless, the room saw a huge boost in player volume during this time and managed to climb into the 3rd spot.
