Poker Etiquette

thepokerbank

Each sport has its own set of rules that each player must abide by. At the same time, each sport has a sub-set of rules known as etiquette that helps to keep competition fair and in good nature. The dictionary describes etiquette as "The practices and forms prescribed by social convention or by authority." Put simply, etiquette is in place to keep games and sports friendly and flowing at an optimum pace.

Poker is no exception when it comes to having its own rules of etiquette. These rules have developed over time to help make the game as enjoyable as possible for all players involved. Some of these rules may be obvious, whereas others you may be unaware of even if you have been playing for some time. It is best to familairise yourself with these rules to be sure that you can help keep every poker game flowing as smoothly as possible.

We have split the etiquette rules into two section below; one for live play and one for online play. However, similar rules of etiquette can be applied to both of the forms of poker and therefore there is some crossover between each. There may be different rules of etiquette in different card rooms, but the rules we have provided are the most widely accepted and commonly used rules of etiquette.
